In our time, faced with multiple challenges from society and the environment, we must take action to find sustainable solutions.
For example, replacing petroleum-based naphtha, the raw material for plastics, with light oils derived from biomass means that the plastic products we use every day will likely come from renewable sources such as gutter oil, waste palm oil, corn, sugar cane or cellulose, rather than from traditional petroleum.
This shift not only helps to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, but also significantly reduces our carbon footprint, propelling us toward our goal of achieving a carbon-neutral society. By using bio-based feedstocks, we are able to produce bio-based polypropylene with similar properties to traditional petrochemical-based polypropylene, but in a more environmentally friendly way.
The production process of bio-based polypropylene and polyethylene usually includes the following key steps:
Step 1 Preparation of biomass feedstock: Selection of suitable biomass feedstock, such as gutter oil, waste palm oil, corn, straw and so on.
Step 2 Biomass conversion: The biomass feedstock is produced and prepared by hydro-saturation, hydro-deoxygenation, cracking and other processes to produce and prepare bio-light hydrocarbons.
Step 3 Polymerization reaction: the bio-light hydrocarbons through high temperature cracking, rapid cooling, compression, separation, distillation process to obtain bio-based ethylene, propylene monomer, and then polymerization to obtain bio-based polyolefin resin.
Step 4 Processing and modification: The polymerized polypropylene and polyethylene can be further processed and modified to meet specific application requirements.
